London - British bride Lizzie Griffiths chose between her bearded dragon and her future husband. The lizard came first, so he could have chemotherapy on his facial tumors.
25-year-old Lizzie Griffiths was recently forced to choose between her future husband and her beloved pet, George. Poor George, a bearded dragon needed chemotherapy for tumors on his face. The cost of the chemo was approximately $4,700.
Griffiths, a school teacher from the London area of England, had a terrible choice to make. She could get married, or she could save George. She chose the latter.
"George will always come first." Griffiths told the Sun. "I fell in love with George the minute I saw him and knew I'd do anything to look after him properly."

The treatment was an unprecedented procedure on a bearded dragon in the U.K., and was hailed a success.
But now, Griffiths can't afford to marry her fiance. Said fiance, Chris Fisher, has been very understanding - they have been together for 10 years and he understands the love his fiancee has for her pet.
Fisher told the Metro: "They have a special bond. If he sits on me, he will just wriggle about. When he's with Lizzie, he's so calm – it's like he knows she saved him."
