George Clooney and his father have been arrested by the uniformed division of the U.S. Secret Service during a protest in Washington D.C. According to the media he is being booked into a police station in D.C.
Nick Clooney and George Clooney are in Washington D.C. to protest the Sudan Crisis. George Clooney was leading the protest in front of the Sudanese embassy when he was taken away by secret service agents. Several other people have also been arrested including Martin Luther King III.
The arrests took place after the protesters accused Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir of provoking the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
A photo of Clooney being arrested with his father is spreading fast across the Web, featured on sites such as BuzzFeed. The Twitter photo by user @selmatj shows the Clooneys in zip ties being led to a police van as onlookers snap photos.
There is an arrest warrant for the capture of al-Bashir issued from the International Criminal Court. That warrant has been ignored by the African Union.
According to the arrest warrant al-Bashir is wanted on charges of genocide in 2009.
