Houston - Miguel Morin was an infant when he disappeared in 2004, and now he is eight years old. The Texas child is being returned to his family.
Auboni Champion in Houston, Texas is overwhelmed by the expected return of her son Miguel. The alleged kidnapper was the boy's godmother Krystle Rochelle Tanner and she is now in custody. Although Miguel had been removed from the national missing children's database, the child came to the attention of authorities by way of a child neglect complaint.
San Augustine County authorities received the complaint, although Child Protective Services (CPS) was unable to find the young boy at the time, when Tanner gave several different versions of her story on Monday Fox reports.
Young Miguel, despite being eight years old, has reportedly never attended school and records for the child were non-existent in San Augustine.
In January however, the Sheriffs dept. began investigating the case as a missing child report, after CPS found information regarding the connection of Tanner to the 2004 kidnapping, Tanner was arrested by the San Augustine Sheriff's Dept. and questioned but she was not cooperating.
Authorities were led to Miguel by Tanner's sister in Houston, who had custody of the child at the time on Tuesday, the sister denied knowing the child was an abduction victim. While eight years have gone by with no word of her son, no birthdays to share and a lot to catch up on, KTRK-TV in Houston reports Champion, the boy's mother, said; "We love him very much and we never gave up. That's one thing I would never give up,"
