A man is lucky to be alive today after crashing into the street post that welcomes people to Toronto's Korea Town. No charges have been laid yet.
The accident took place on Bloor Street West near Christie Street.
Witnesses to the accident said that it appeared that the man hit the gas instead of his brakes while he attempted to park on the sidewalk. That alleged mistake brought down the street post which crashed into his van. The post hit in the center of the van's windshield shattering the glass. Fortunately there were no passengers in the van other than the driver who appeared to be to not have been harmed in the incident.
Toronto Police on the scene said at this time there are no charges but that the accident is being investigated. While the driver did not appear to be injured Toronto EMS were on the scene to make sure that the driver was indeed unharmed.
The accident damaged a bike that was chained to a bike post on the sidewalk. The downed pole also damaged a van that was parked in front of the destroyed van.
