“Never Say Never” grossed a whopping $99,034,125 worldwide based on the life story of Justin Bieber and the idea that if you work hard enough at something, anything is possible. Scooter Braun, Justin’s manager has quoted on his website “There is no dead end to a solution. It’s just a matter of working harder and smarter than everyone else”. But is this whole “Never Say Never” mantra just a smart marketing strategy?
Cady Eimer of Poquoson, VA, (the daughter of this Digital Journalist) purchased the domain name of onelesslonelyprom.com on January 21, 2011. In addition to preparing for college in the fall and her future, Cady spends time every day working on her site, her Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts to get word to Justin Bieber asking him to her prom. David Lohr of The Huffington Post picked up her story in July 2011 and even contacted the Bieber camp for response, which one never came. In December of 2011, Cady met Scooter Braun at the DC Buyout, got her picture taken with him and let him know about the website. However, the silence is deafening as there still has been no response to Cady’s request. There has been communication, however no definitive answer.
Cady has fans from all over the world supporting her site and the dream that if you work hard enough at something, anything is possible. Videos have been made to support her and her website. Cady has received many messages that she is an inspiration to many fans as they watch her working so hard at a goal that she has – of Justin going to prom with her.
Just one of the many support videos that have been made for Cady, some from people she has never met.
Some fans aren’t so happy that the Bieber camp has been silent. On the most recent support video uploaded November 20, 2011, someone commented Justin Bieber: JUST SAY YES!!! im starting 2 loose the bieber fever because your not responding 2 this girl, and lots of my friends feel the same way! You said yourself to NEVER SAY NEVER right? THEN SAY YES AND MAKE CADY'S DREAM COME TRUE!!”
Over a year since the domain name was purchased (before the military balls, before Justin started dating Selena), and less than two months from her senior prom, there has been no answer from Justin Bieber or his manager Scooter Braun.
Cady has stated that it’s just not about the prom anymore. As much as she would enjoy having Justin go to prom as well as experience something he missed out on (or even get the chance to meet him and hang out), it has now become about something so much more. It’s now more about resolution. As much as Justin and Scooter teach all Justin’s fans to never give up, always try your hardest, they have chosen to ignore a situation than acknowledge it when a fan has followed their advice. There are literally thousands of Cady supporters around the world watching how this unfolds.
