Saudi Arabia sentences serial killer to death by crucifixion

By Katerina Nikolas     Mar 1, 2012 in World
Yanbu Industrial City - A Saudi court has rescinded the beheading sentence of a man convicted of murdering three Asian housemaids in the Kingdom, and replaced the sentence with an order of death by crucifixion.
A serial killer identified only as Awdhah is to be crucified on charges of murder, rape and adultery, according to Emirates 247. It was reported "“The court ordered the implementation of the sentence as soon as possible to serve as a deterrent to others.”
The killer, who was previously imprisoned for beating up his wife and children, confessed to the murders and rapes two years ago. In each case he first lured the housemaids into his company before raping them, dismembering their bodies and disposing of them by burying them. He even attempted to rape his third victim in his own home while his wife and children were in another room, according to a report from Emirates 247.
According to a report from Amnesty International those sentenced to crucifixion in Saudi Arabia "are beheaded first and then their heads are sewn back on their bodies.”
