Miami Beach - All Christal Spann wanted was a picture. But R&B singer Chris Brown wasn't up for it. So, he ripped her camera phone out of her hand and drove away with it. Now, he's under criminal investigation.
According to the Miami Beach police report, Spann spotted Brown and rapper Tyga exiting the Cameo, a nightclub in Miami, Florida, at 4 a.m. on Sunday and took a picture of him with her iPhone as he climbed into the back seat of his Bentley.
Spann told police that Brown "flipped out when he saw her camera phone" according to TMZ.
Enraged, Brown reached through the window of his Bentley and snatched her iPhone, adding, “B***h you not gonna put this up on no website,” driving off with her phone in hand, according to the police report.
No charges have been filed yet but according to E! News, the Florida State Attorney’s Office is allegedly prepping a warrant for the singer’s arrest on “robbery by sudden snatching.”
According to CBSMiami, Late Thursday, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle released this statement:
“My prosecutors are currently speaking with witnesses and reviewing all of the materials supplied by Miami Beach Police. Only after these reviews have been completed would any type of action be considered or taken. This is the basic process that every criminal case in Miami-Dade County undergoes.
Brown is midway through a five-year probation for viciously beating then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, the night before the Grammy Awards. If convicted, Brown could be spending time inside of a jail cell for several years for violating the terms of his probation.
According to Radar Online, Brown's celebrity attorney Mark Geragos is in touch with Florida State's Attorney's Office over the incident.
Opinions about the singer's latest actions are divided.
Chris Brown apparently, “has massive anger management issues," says one commenter online. "Why does he keep getting away with his bad behavior - he's on probation yet he gets away with trashing TV studios, stealing cell phones, and just plain anti social behavior - at the drop of a hat he hurls base insults right, left and center."
"He seems to be encouraged, if not enabled in his actions. He is just bad, bad news.”
Some of his fans, on the other hand, see the accuser as goldigger after "a quick buck."
Still others, want the public to, "Leave him alone. He made mistakes, him beating Rihanna was disgusting. But he admitted it and has been punished according to the law. He has attended anger management classes."
"Rihannas[sic] accepted his punishment. How is he supposed to move on and get on with his life if he is not being allowed to by gutless people over twitter. ... I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for him"
