Canton - Following the video showing the abuse of an injured dog, a petition has been launched to get public voices calling for dismissal of the shelter worker responsible for the abuse.
News of the incident appeared online the past Sunday linking to the video from late last year. The security video footage shows a deputy at the Stark County Dog Warden Department of Ohio shooting a jet of water at an injured dog that is unable to walk and is caged in the garage of the facility.
The dog reportedly died shortly afterward before it could be taken to a vet. Due to lack of evidence, no disciplinary action was taken against the deputy. Now, an online petition started by an animal rights activist seeks signatures of people concerned with animal rights to demand Deputy Phil Sedlacko's “immediate dismissal” from the Stark County Dog Warden Department along with any other employees responsible for the dog’s suffering at the shelter.
The petition has collected over 4700 signatures, aiming for getting 5000 signatures, and will be delivered to City Council of Canton and the Stark County Commissioners on the 27th of this month.
