article imageSwedish hospital seeks 'hot' nurses for summer employment

Stockholm - Travel nurses seeking a fun-filled experience in Sweden would do themselves a favor by checking out Stockholm South General Hospital’s advertising campaign seeking vacation cover for the 2012 summer, with the prerequisite of being “TV-series hot.”
“You will be motivated, professional, and have a sense of humour. And of course, you will be TV-series hot or a Söder hipster. Throw in a nurse’s education and you are welcome to seek a summer job at Södersjukhuset’s emergency department,” the ad reads, according to The Local.
Looking for a way to draw attention to its ad seeking a part-time nurse, the Swedish hospital, Södersjukhuset states it had a great response in looking for a “snygga” nurse.
Elisabeth Gauffin, head nurse at the hospital, told the Local, a Swedish news site, “We want people to be curious and have a little imagination.”
The internet ad used the term “TV-series snygga” after a satisfied patient had praised the hospital and used the same words. Translated to English, “snygg” or “snygga” is the equivalent of “hot” or “good-looking.”
Hospital officials say the ad has generated a great response. Nursing manager Jörgen Andersson added, “We think that people understand that it was written to catch people’s attention, there's been no negative feedback.”
On a serious note, Andersson said job qualification is a must. “Being good-looking is no requirement at all. We put out an ad looking for interest and we got a great response. We want a nurse who is qualified and good at their job, regardless of looks.”
With the largest Emergency Care Unit in the Nordic region, Södersjukhuset has a hospital staff of about 4,100. It also has one of the largest maternity clinics in Sweden, performing 6,000 deliveries annually.
“We hope we piqued your curiosity and you want to come and meet us, so we can tell you more about your future as a nurse,” the advertisement added, London Free Press notes.
