Westfield - Whitney Houston's final resting place will be beside her father, according to media reports. The funeral for the music entertainer, scheduled for Saturday, will be include a graveside service at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey.
Singer Whitney Houston who went from a small church in Newark to a global stage has returned to the Brick City for her funeral, which will include a private service at the New Hope Baptist Church.
TMZ reports Houston's death certificate lists the Fairview Cemetery as her final resting place. Houston, 48, died at the Beverly Hills Hilton Saturday before a scheduled appearance at a pre-Grammy party hosted by Clive Davis. She was discovered unconscious in a bathtub of water.
TMZ cites sources that said "Whitney wanted to be laid to rest next to her father," John Russell Houston Jr., who died in 2003. She is the daughter of the late Houston and gospel singer, Cissy Houston of Newark.
Houston's body was taken to the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark after being released by the LA Coroner's office. A cause of death has not been established and is pending investigation. She was flown aboard a private jet, owned by Tyler Perry, and transported by golden hearse to the funeral home. The hearse was met by a throng of fans, security guards and funeral officials, reports Digital Journal.
Funeral home Director Kara Whigham told the Associated Press, the funeral will take place Saturday at noon, and will be a private ceremony that would be by invitation only.
