Santiago - Summer is a great season for enjoyment of the beaches and outdoor activities, but also an excellent opportunity for domestic and international visitors to attend various artistic and cultural activities in the Chilean resort city of Viña del Mar.
Summer Concerts
Notable among the many cultural activities offered in beautiful Viña del Mar (Spanish for "Vineyard by the Sea") also known as "The Garden City", are the Summer Concerts organized by the Municipality of Viña del Mar and the Beethoven Foundation. The program includes four performances held every summer during January at the outdoor Amphitheater of Quinta Vergara Park.
The four concerts this season have included popular and folk music, a concert comprising waltzes by Johann Strauss, another including vocal music of S. Rachmaninoff ("Vocalise"), "Symphony No. 4" and "1812 Overture" of Peter I. Tchaikovsky, featuring a magnificent display of cannon fire, and a great show with beautiful lyrical arias and choruses of the best known operas.

In recent years Canada has had a relevant participation in the Viña del Mar Song Festival. In 2011, Ottawa born singer Sierra Noble won the International competition for her interpretation of "Try Anything". This year, Ça Claque, a Winnipeg song and dance troupe, was chosen among over 500 entrants worldwide to represent Canada at the 53rd annual Viña del Mar International Song Festival.
