Fresh from his recording session in Miami with Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber is now in the studio in L.A. with Canadian cohort, the Toronto rapper Drake. The two are friends and a collaboration was expected.
Bieber is recording for his new album, 'Believe,' expected to be released in the late spring. Drake, a former TV star ('De Grassi: The Next Generation') and major recording star ('Thank Me Later') is from Toronto in Ontario, the same Canadian province Bieber's from. For that, and other reasons, they have become close.
Justin Bieber Tweets, Scooter Braun Tweets
Bieber had tweeted fans about being in the studio with someone new but it took a tweet from manager Scooter Braun to confirm he was indeed in an L.A. studio recording with Drake. Neither Bieber, Drake, nor Scooter Braun, have given any indication of the song, or songs, that the two are working on together.
The pop singer and rapper have worked together before and if you go way back to Bieber's hit Baby from 'My World', Drake plays a cameo in the video of that song. Further, at the 2010 Juno awards, in Newfoundland, Canada, the two sang an acoustic version of the song together.
In related news, the 2012 Juno award nomination were announced this week and Drake is up for 4 Junos while Bieber got two nominations, the Fan Choice and Album of the Year for 'Under the Mistletoe.' The Junos, symbol of Canadian music excellence, take place on April 1 in Ottawa.
