Mitt Romney failed to take a win in Minnesota, Colorado or Missouri, as Rick Santrorum scooped a hat-trick victory to give new life and momentum to his campaign.
Rick Santorum scored a hat-trick with victories in the Minnesota and Colorado caucuses and Missouri primary, results now in reveal. Addressing his supporters Santorum said “Conservatism is alive and well. I don’t stand here and claim to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney. I stand here to be the conservative alternative to Barack Obama.”(

The
BBC cites the results in the Minnesota as Santorum first, Ron Paul second, and Mitt Romney trailing in third place. In Missouri Romney claimed second place to Paul's third. In Colorado Mitt Romney was confident he would take first place but Santorum once again claimed the victory, though with a less impressive margin than in Minnesota. Meanwhile Newt Gingrich spent Tuesday campaigning in Ohio.
Romney told reporters that in spite of Santorum's victory he still expects to be the GOP nominee, according to the
WC Tribune. However these latest results breathe new life into the run for nominee, with Santorum now presenting as competition to Romney.
