Randy Travis was arrested in Texas on charges of suspicion of public intoxication after he was spotted sitting in his parked vehicle in front of the First Baptist Church in Sanger.
The Denton Record-Chroniclereports Tom Reedy, spokesman for the Denton County Sheriff's Department, said an officer spotted a suspicious vehicle at the church at approximately 1:30am Monday morning. When the officer approached the parked car he found "Travis inside his vehicle smelling of alcohol with an open bottle of wine."
The country music star, who can be seen smiling in his mug shot, was arrested and taken to the Denton County Jail. The 52-year-old singer was released after a four hour mandatory hold with a Class C misdemeanor citation, according to jail records.
The country music icon, who lists his address as Tioga, Texas, was in the news almost a year ago when he collapsed while performing at the Crystal Heart Gala, an event that benefits the Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Fort Worth.
EOnline reported at the time that Travis was "overcome by a combination of dehydration, over-the-counter allergy medications, and caffeine use."
Travis is scheduled to kick-off his "25 years of Genuine Country" music tour Feb. 10 in Grand Ronde, Ore., at the Spirit Mountain Casino.
