Of the many abilities of talented actor Daniel Radcliffe of "Harry Potter' fame, one is being truthful. In a talk with the U.K. mag 'Heat' last week, the 22-year-old offered the information that he was drunk on set - often.
The magazine tried helping him dismiss it by suggesting young people can tend to get a bit carried away. Radcliffe was having none of it, insisting he'd made poor choices due to his "personality."
"I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem," Radcliffe said. "People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don't want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily. I mean nightly.'
Daniel Radcliffe: "scenes where I'm just gone"
Radcliffe starred as the Harry Potter character in 8 films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (2001) and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011). He did make the point that he hadn't actually drank any booze while on set but confessed drunk became a part of his performance.
"I can honestly say I never drank at work on 'Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes."
Groupies: "I like to like somebody" first
He also told the magazine that, for the most part, he did not sleep with groupies, saying "I like to like somebody before I sleep with them." He has a girlfriend now, a production assistant in the film biz who is working with him now, and Radcliffe says she is "...a wonderful, wonderful girl, who's far too good for me."
The other big confession from the movie star, who started with the Harry Potter franchise when he was 11, was that he has his share of insecurities, doubtless something that fueled his drinking. "A lot of actors have self-doubt," he said.
