Los Angeles - Two male teachers at Miramonte Elementary school in Los Angeles have been arrested and charged with the sexual abuse of dozens of children.
On Friday, 49 year old Martin Springer was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing students over a three year period, reports The Guardian. Two students accused Springer of touching them inappropriately. Springer is being held on $2 million bail.
In an L.A. Times article, a neighbor of Springer's said, "I've never seen him with children ... he is always by himself. I can't believe he was arrested."
Four days prior, another male teacher from the same school, 61 year old Mark Berndt, was arrested for allegedly abusing 23 children aged 6 to 10 from 2005 to 2010. Berndt was suspected after a photo processing employee of a local CVS drugstore found rather lewd photos of blindfolded children with their mouths taped shut.
After a year's worth of investigation, details arose of Berndt's alleged behavior with the children, including making them eat his own semen from a spoon.
Berndt was a 32 year employee of the school and is being held on $23 million bail.
