article imageOp-Ed: Will this torrent of bad news (for Republicans) never cease?

By Bill Schmalfeldt     Feb 3, 2012 in Politics
Republicans have their futures invested, not only in offshore and unnumbered Swiss bank accounts, but on the failure of President Obama to turn the economy around. When, in heavens' name, will this torrent of bad tidings cease?
Five straight months, now! For the fifth month in a row, the unemployment rate has dropped! How, in God's name, is Mitt Romney supposed to keep saying, with a straight face that President Obama's policies are making things worse?
The Republicans need Obama to fail and fail real hard! They need to show themselves as American's only salvation, riding to the rescue on a big white (yes, white) horse to save America from the communist, socialist, marxist, fascist, villainous, reckless, Kenyan Indonesian economic policies of this man whose first words to his Communist mother were allgedly "death to America."
That's the only reason Obama is improving the economy. To fool you into thinking he cares about you. It's the same reason former National Rifle Association President Wayne LaPierre gave last September for Obama not pushing gun control. It's all a massive conspiracy so he can come get your guns in the second term!
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow also called out LaPierre's comments, saying: "The NRA says the way you can tell Obama is coming for your guns, is that he's not coming for you guns. It's genius! That is the insane paranoid message from the NRA this year."
Can't you see it for what it is? This so-called "good news"?
The newest numbers released Friday by the Labor Department indicated 243,000 new jobs in January. These figures were far better than the high 100,000s to low 200,000s the pundits expected. The unemployment rate dropped to 8.3 percent -- its lowest rate in three years.
Obama is improving the economy so he can wreck it in his second term!
Is there anything this cagey, evil man won't do to foil the Republican plan for prosperity?
Obama is purposely improving the economy so he can win a second term and then wreck it!
Oh, don't you worry. Republicans are busy dumping all over the news. Both House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Speaker of the House John Boehner have issued statements saying, "not bad, but we should be doing better." What else can they say?
How can Mitt and Newt and Rick and Ron keep saying that things are horribly bad, horrible and bad when things are getting better?
Oh, these are hard times for Republicans. Hard times, indeed!
