Campbell Kenneford now plans to have an operation that will finally change her gender physically from boy to girl.
The 16-year-old – who lives in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England – wants to become a model.
The Sun quotes Kenneford as saying
her idol is Lady Gaga. “She inspired me to reveal the truth – that I’m a woman trapped in a man’s body.”
The paper says she already dresses as a woman and “turns heads” when she’s out and about in the town.
Kenneford says she wrote a letter to Gaga and delivered it at one of the singer’s London concerts.
“I shouted, ‘I love you’ as she left,” says the teenager. “She’s given me the confidence to dress as a girl all the time and wear make-up. I felt free as if I didn’t have to hide my true feelings.”
Kenneford reveals to the paper that she suffered taunts from schoolmates, who called her gay. She says she was bullied for years.
“I started painting my nails and growing my hair when I was 11,” she says. “Now I like girly outfits. I wear hot pants, high heels and tight tops all the time.”
Meanwhile, the Huffington Post
’s UK edition says
bleached-blonde Kenneford is the “spitting image of [actor, singer and model] Lindsay Lohan.”
Loved dressing up
The paper quotes Kenneford’s mother, Leona Fawcett, 35, as saying she knew her son was a girl by the time he was five.
The story continues: “Leona, who calls Cambell a ‘she,’ said: “Even as a toddler she loved dressing up in my clothes and make-up.
“She used to put on my bras and pants and wore a tea towel on her head pretending it was long hair.
“When she asked me ‘Mummy, why am I not a girl?’ I didn’t know what to say. I felt so upset as it was so clear she was different.”
Fawcett continues: “She blurted out: ‘Mum, I’m a girl inside.’ She’d been too shy or ashamed to admit it up until then.
“I was so relieved she had finally said it. I said, ‘Yes, I know.’”
