Beanz Meanz Heinz voted best advertising slogan ever

First devised in 1967 over a pint of beer in a London, UK, pub, “Beanz Meanz Heinz”, the advertising slogan for a tin of baked haricot beans in a tomato sauce, has come top of a poll to find the best advertising slogan of all time.

“Beanz Meanz Heinz” is the top advertising slogan ever, according to a poll conducted by the British-based magazine Creative Review as reported in the Daily Mail on January 26, 2012. Devised in 1967, the slogan was used by Heinz for over 40 years until it was unceremoniously dropped in 1993 (Daily Mail, April 30, 1993 accessed via Lexis Library, subscription required) and replaced with the upstart “Heinz Builds Britz” which never really caught on. The Telegraph newspaper at the end of January 2009 reported that, after an absence of 16 years, the "Beanz Meanz Heinz" slogan was to be resurrected again. In a Heinz press release of the same date, the slogan’s creator, Maurice Drake is quoted as saying: After weeks of searching for a new campaign theme the answer came in a London pub. I still find it incredible that over forty years later, the seemingly timeless “Beanz Meanz Heinz” slogan continues to have relevance and brand power, still appealing to different generations in an ever

changing world. Given today’s news, it seems this advert from 1986 is just as relevant now as it was then showing that "Beanz Meanz Heinz" probably well deserves the accolade of the best advertising slogan ever.
