Waxahachie - The latest viral sensation to hit YouTube is a video filmed by a proud father who recorded his wife delivering their child in a moving car as he drove the expectant mother to the hospital.
With one had on the steering wheel and the other holding a video camera, Zachary Russell was able to capture the birth of his newborn daughter on video at the moment she entered the world.
Russell's wife Jennifer, an elementary school teacher, gave birth to their second child as the couple sped down Highway 287 in Texas on the way to the birthing center where she planned to deliver the baby. She told WFAA, "By the time my water broke, I pushed once and she was out. I was totally shocked, because with my first child, it was like 12 hours at the hospital.
The surprised mother calmly unwrapped the umbilical cord from the newborn's body and quietly comforted the crying child while Russell continued to film. Zachary told news media he had not filmed the birth of their son and was determined not to "miss this opportunity."
The couple posted the footage to YouTube where it has received national attention. Commenters to the video have complimented the father for his film-making skills under pressure, and congratulated the mother for her her ability to remain calm while giving birth unassisted in a moving car.
The couple told KiiTV that they were considering keeping the car to give to Willow when she was old enough to drive so she can tell people, "Okay, I was born right there!"
