The 49-year-old star was rushed to hospital late on the night of Jan. 24 following a 911 call to be treated for "exhaustion."
Demi Moore who split from her toyboy husband, Ashton Kutcher in November 2011 has appeared "frail and gaunt" in recent weeks according to a report in the Daily Mail. The report says she was with a female friend when she started shaking and appeared to be having some type of seizure. A spokesperson for the star told the Daily Mail:
"Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."
However, the website TMZ claims their sources say that the reason for the star's recent rapid weight loss and her admission to hospital is due to "substance abuse"
Meanwhile, while his estranged wife was being treated, Ashton Kutcher is having the time of his life in Brazil, with his Twitter account working overtime showing pictures of him 'surfing' in the flooded streets of Sao Paulo. He has attended a Bruno Mars concert and Fashion Week in the Brazilian city.
Demi Moore, a mother of three, announced her separation from Kutcher, now starring in 'Two and a Half Men' following the disgrace of Charlie Sheen, as rumours of his infidelity with her assistant spread like wild fire. The infidelity is supposed to have taken place on the night of the couple's sixth wedding anniversary according to The Mirror.
Twitter has been flooded with messages of support for Demi from her friends such as Eva Longoria who wrote "Sending my love and support to one of the most beautiful people i know"
It is expected that the actress will take some time to recover from this latest setback and it has been reported that she has pulled out of a biopic about Linda Lovelace in which she was due to play the famous feminist Gloria Steinem.
