, McNeal actually persuaded her lover at the time, former NFL linebacker Eric Andrew Naposki, to carry out the murder. He was convicted of the murder last summer.
McLaughlin was killed in his kitchen when Naposki entered his home and shot him six times in the chest, according to the OC Register
. Naposki was able to have a duplicate key made of McLaughlin's front door to gain entry.
reports that McNeal was interested in McLaughlin's $1 million life insurance policy. She was able to collect at least $500,000 from McLaughlin's estate. She also used his checks from his bank account and made payments to herself.
McNeal and McLaughlin met after she had placed an ad in a personals section back in 1991. Her ad stated that she was seeking wealthy men. It also specifically stated
, "You take care of me, and I'll take care of you."
McNeal and Naposki are scheduled to be sentenced on May 18. Both could face a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.
