A nightclub sporting the Facebook name and logo has opened near the Bolivian border in the Brazilian Amazon. Sharing the concept of the social network, the club is riding on the popularity of the website which has exploded in the South American country.
"The Facebook concept is about sharing ideas, adventures, friendships, parties and photos with your friends," said club owner Humbert Camacho, a 30-year-old businessman from the border town of Epitaciolândia, according to the Guardian.
"So what we wanted to do was to build a nightclub with this concept, where people could come and share things with their friends, spend a cool night, sharing pictures, experiences and have fun," he added.
Camacho said the club was going to have its own official Facebook page for customers to share pictures in real time, allowing those who can’t make it to sit at home and see what the party is like.
Brazil has the world's fourth highest number of Facebook users, ending 2011 with 35 million profiles as against 8 million in 2010.
The Guardian reports that a Facebook spokesperson said the company had no official comment.
