Washington - As the Obama's dined in a Washington restaurant, a smoke bomb was hurled onto the White House lawn. Secret service agents have place the compound under lock-down.
A smoke bomb was thrown over the fence of White House on Tuesday evening, as over 1,000 Occupy protesters staged a rally outside. Secret service agents placed the White House under lock-down, as police helped to clear the area and conducted a bomb sweep.
The Herald Sun reported a robot was sent to check out the smoking device which landed on the White House lawn
According to Politico, Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie said "We had approximately 1,000 to 1,500 protesters from Occupy D.C. on the fence line. There were no arrests but what we believe … was a smoke bomb was thrown over the fence.” Although no protesters were arrested following the smoke bomb incident, four were arrested earlier in the day as they demonstrated outside Capitol Hill.
Naharnet reported the President was not in the White House at the time, but enjoying a celebratory birthday dinner with friends at a restaurant, BLT Steak, for Michelle Obama's 48th birthday. The couple were allowed back into the compound after dinner.
