article imageOp-Ed: Bolton endorses Mitt Romney, looking at possible war with Iran

By Nancy Houser     Jan 13, 2012 in Politics
Washington - With former UN ambassador John Bolton endorsing Mitt Romney on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, there are now serious indications that the Republican party's foreign policy wing may be shifting camps toward Romney, looking earnestly at a war in Iran.
Last June, Bolton told a receptive Congress to bomb Iran and support MEK. According to the NIA Council, "I've argued for [military strikes against Iran] for about three and a half years,” John Bolton told the House Foreign Affairs Committee today. 'Absent military action against Iran’s nuclear weapons program, Iran will have weapons much sooner rather than later,' Bolton said. 'It’s a big mistake to conclude, as I believe the Administration has, that a nuclear Iran can be contained and deterred.' "
During Bush's term, Bolton had received a warm reception from Republicans and many Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. According to the NIA Council, "In addition to his calls for military action against Iran, Bolton made several bold assertions that went unchallenged by the committee. Even as Bolton called for bombing Iran, he acknowledged doing so would likely ignite a broader regional war, but dismissed the costs as worth the effort."
Mitt Romney - John Bolton Presidential Ticket
Quite recently, Newt Gingrich had offered Bolton a cabinet position as Secretary of State, in a prospective Newt Gingrich administration. But with a Mitt Romney-John Bolton ticket rumored to be appearing, the winning stakes for Bolton suddenly became much higher.
"...combining the expertise of Mitt Romney and John Bolton on a Republican ticket to challenge Barack Obama in 2012 would be virtually unbeatable in lieu of the current issues facing our nation. (Political Blog).
On January 6, 2011, the Guardian printed an article titled "Republicans: we don't need no regulation." The article states that the "Republican party, which is pulling off a remarkable confidence trick that could yet swing this year's presidential election" speaks of deceit, corruptness and sheer control over the American voters.
Part of that trick involved the bailout, "...conservatives had to surmount an enormous cognitive barrier. By and large, the people who designed the hated bailouts – and the banks that benefited from them – had played on the conservative team. It was no problem to cast the Democrat Obama as a freedom-crushing dictator. " Every political dealing that has been going on has been manipulated, in order to remove the Democratic administration---which is the sole obsession of the GOPs above and beyond the country's needs.
American voters need to look closely at Bolton's close ties to the Islamophobic far-right and his sheer determination to bomb Iran, which are not mentioned by Republican supporters for obvious reasons. They also are ignoring Romney's background into corrupt big business.
But Mitt Romney, with or without Bolton, is trying desperately to win the GOP election, despite the fact if there were another Republican to run, Romney would probably lose, as he really isn't wanted, Except by those in power behind him who knows the people they can manipulate and control, and who is not. He is just the better of the GOPs who they think can beat Obama.
