Woodbury Heights - Shoppers at a Goodwill Store in New Jersey were in for a surprise when a deer charged the front door of the clothing outlet, breaking through the glass, and entering the store causing mayhem for nearly ten minutes till it found its way out.
The entire dramatic incident was caught on security video tape and a spliced together version, taken from multiple cameras, was posted to YouTube gaining national attention for the retail outlet located in Woodbury Heights.
The footage shows two deer running towards the entrance of the store located in a shopping plaza. Both deer appear to attempt to enter the store but one quickly turns and runs away from the chaotic scene.
Once inside the Goodwill Store the video shows the deer from various angles as it darts back and forth throughout the store, slipping and sliding across the floors as it looks for the exit. The footage shows shoppers fleeing the store as the frightened deer runs wildly through the building. Eventually the deer manages to make its escape through the propped open front door of the store.
Victor Santucci, regional manager of the Goodwill stores told NBC News that there were five deer seen in the parking lot when the deer crashed through the glass door. "At first I just heard a loud noise. I thought maybe a car had crashed through the front door. We made sure that our customers were safe and got them out of the store, and then we corralled the deer to get her out. It didn't appear to be hurt."
Juli Lundberg, spokesperson for Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey said, “It’s really odd because that store doesn’t back up to any woods. It came out of nowhere.”
