According to The Star, neighbors in Gauhati said that the man who was killed was a 50-year-old lawyer. They say that he was outside his house, talking on his cellphone when the leopard approached him and attacked him. The incident took place Saturday evening and he was rushed to the hospital where he died on Sunday.
According to CBS, the leopard left four other people injured. One man actually had some of his scalp ripped off. A local newspaper photographer captured the attack as it happen.
According to MSNBC, the leopard wandered around homes and jumped over walls, and then at one point a man was chasing the leopard with a metal rod. People were warning him to stop and the leopard eventually attacked the man.
Wildlife officials eventually arrived at the scene and tranquilized it. Officials say they plan on releasing the animal at a wildlife park located about 120 miles west of the city.
