Joran Van Der Sloot’s murder trial in Peru will now take place on Wednesday. That is when Van Der Sloot will finally give his plea.
Van der Sloot is accused of killing Stephany Flores, 21, and is being charged with qualified murder and simple robbery.
According to CNN, On Friday Sloot asked the court if he could have more time to think about what plea he will make. Sloot’s lawyer spoke earlier in the day and said that his client was going to plead guilty to all of the charges brought forth to him. However, when it came time, he told the judge that he would like more time.
The magistrates asked Sloot for his plea and he told them that wished to give a sincere plea but he did not want to plea guilty to all the charges because he did not agree with all of them. The judge asked Sloot what he meant by that and he asked for more time so he can decide his plea.
According to ABC, as the prosecutor told the judges how Sloot killed Stephany Flores, Sloot sat there shaking his head. Initially Van Sloot allegedly admitted that he killed Flores.
In that confession, Sloot said that he killed Flores after she went on his laptop and found a connection between Sloot and the Holloway case in Aruba.
According to JD Journal, prosecutors want Sloot to receive 30 years in jail, as well as restitution payment to Flores’ family.
On Wednesday, Sloot will go enter his plea and there will ne no jury presiding over the proceedings. Sloot’s faith lies in the hands of three judges.
