The pop singer worked hard throughout the late summer and early fall to release a Christmas studio album called 'Under the Mistletoe' and then went back into the studio and recorded a song especially for the New Year. He recorded Happy New Year
with Jaden Smith and released it on - his twitter
Justin Bieber with rapper Jaden Smith
The song makes references to 2012 and Smith starts it off with some smooth rapping. They both sound mature beyond their years, with the 13-year-old Smith rapping about a woman's body in a seductive way while the 17-year-old Bieber's voice has deepened considerably.
Bieber released Happy New Year
in the midst of a New Year's evening that saw him perform in Times Square in New York on 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve Show with Ryan Seacrest' (Bieber played with rock legend Carlos Santana). Smith and Bieber have worked together before as the two did a version of Bieber's Never Say Never
that was used as the theme song in the film 'The Karate Kid' starring Jaden Smith.
Justin Bieber and 'Believe'
It truly was an extremely busy holiday season for Bieber, appearing on many Christmas shows including A Michael Buble Christmas
with, naturally, his fellow-Canadian Michael Buble. Even when he went back to Canada to spend Christmas with his family he performed and film a benefit TV show, 'Justin Bieber: Home for the Holidays'.
Bieber now gets back to work yet again as he'll soon enough be returning to the studio to record his next album, 'Believe.'
