article imageOp-Ed: Kiefer Sutherland produced ‘The Confession’ CTV online TV show Special

By Daniel Boyington     Jan 1, 2012 in Entertainment
Toronto - Just found a new show which is online only, on and it stars/produced by Kiefer Sutherland and the format is very lame. They show it in 10 minute segments with commercials. Is this how we will watch TV in the future?
I found a new show, 'The Confession' very interesting, which is playing ONLY online at CTV. staring and produced by Kiefer Sutherland.
The layout of viewing the show, stinks big time. There are 11 chapters you can watch and each one is about 10 minutes long, with commercials before and after each segment. It's a very good story, but the way you watch it stinks. If you click the first segment (9 minutes) you expect it will continue automatically to the next 10 segments to finish the show, but that is not the case.

I was forced to go back to the chapter listing page, try to remember what number was the next one and then click it and watch this annoying Audi advertisement over and over, after and before each 8 min segment. Couldn’t they have a least had a few different advertisements?
Are you trying to be like Hulu which is a USA based online service that shows TV programs after they have aired on their regular networks, but not available to viewers outside of the USA.
On Hulu I can watch the whole hour show with 30 second commercials and also add closed captioning, because much of the The Confession, I could not hear the sound, with the loud talking and the British accent of John Hurt who is the other major star in the show. Hulu is available from Canada, but very complicated to access.
It’s a good start, and an interesting way of programming, but this was completely annoying, the way they have it set-up. It would have been better, just as an audio cassette.
I like Sutherland, but this was a big disappointment, and a 50 min show took an hour and half to watch.
I suspect most people gave up after a couple of segments, after watching the repetitious advertisement.
Nice try Kiefer, you can do better than that.
I still love your acting.
Maybe I got it wrong, you can check it out HERE
