Simple strings of lights dot the neighborhoods while traditional holiday lighting illuminates the shopping centers and plazas.
Elaborate holiday illumination displays can be found at major shopping complexes in Tokyo and other large cities in Japan. Though few homes are decorated with holiday lights.
In addition to retail Christmas illumination, in Tokyo, extravagant displays are lit up at Shiodome, the area around Shinjuku station, the main street in Ginza, and Odaiba, according to Japan-Guide.
