Unbeaten boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr won't enter the ring with Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao unless he gets $100 million in fight purse.
Pacquiao said Mayweather wants this outrageous sum of money before he signs the fight contract and it is also the reason the most wanted fight is not happening
"I heard he’s asking $100 million. That’s what he’s asking for which is why the fight is not yet done", he told
ABS-CBN News
Pacquiao, who celebrated his 33rd birthday Saturday in hometown in General Santos City, said he is even willing to face Mayweather even if he gets a lower sum so long as the fight gets done.
"It’s no problem for be to get the smaller prize as long as the fight gets done” Pacquiao told ABS-CBN News.
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum
earlier said the fight could reach "more than $100 million in guaranteed purse for both boxers, and should break all the existing records in the sport, particularly in pay-per-view sales."
But the $100 million just for Mayweather as overheard by Pacquiao is just too much as there will be nothing left to share with him and the promoters.
Rumors are swirling around that Pacquiao is in serious financial crises and that is why he wants the Mayweather fight.
Knowledgeable
sources say that even if Pacquiao wants the big fight with Mayweather and because of his shaky financial situation, he is now at the mercy of his promoter who seems to favor either Tim Bradley or a rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Arum is schedule to arrive in the Philippines on the first week of January to confer with Pacquiao on his midyear ring return and to discuss the options for his next opponent.
