The wife of famous NBA basketball star Kobe Bryant has filed for divorce, citing too much cheating and irreconcilable differences as the reasons for the breakdown of her 10-year marriage with the L.A. Laker's star.
Divorce documents were filed Friday in Orange County, Los Angeles, asking the court for joint legal and physical custody of their two daughters. Bryant's wife Vanessa has asked for spousal support.
"The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012," according to a statement from a representative for the couple.
The couple asked that their privacy be respected in the interest of their children and in the spirit of Christmas season.
As one source puts it, "She's been dealing with these incidents for a long time and has been a faithful wife, but she's finally had enough," adding, "This one is the straw that broke the camel's back." TMZ wrote
In 2003, Bryant was charged with sexual assault by a 19-year-old hotel employee in Colorado which nearly broke their marriage. Later, the prosecutor dropped the charges against Bryant as the victim decided not to pursue the case.
Bryant later admitted his infidelity and was forgiven by Vanessa.
"I know that my husband has made a mistake -- the mistake of adultery," she said in the statement at the time. "He and I will have to deal with that within our marriage, and we will do so. He is not a criminal."
It was reported earlier that Bryant was devastated by the recent turn of events and was quoted to have said that he will do anything to save their marriage.
