article imageOp-Ed: Evidence of Facebook and ABC’s news manipulation

By Andre C James     Dec 12, 2011 in World
Clear and damning evidence has emerged that U.S. news channel, ABC, has manipulated news to reinforce American foreign policy and misdirect public opinion.
In what appears as a clear attempt to shore up public support for an impending invasion/bombing of Syria and prevent the truth about current events from emerging, Facebook, on Friday, shut down Syrian TV’s page after it published a link to US news channel, ABC’s edited version of a recent interview with President Assad of Syria and the unedited version aired within Syria, for comparison.
ABC's manipulated version of the Assad interview.
The parts that were edited out of the ABC version.
After viewing both versions it becomes clear that the editors devised, by way of omission and distortion, to portray the Syrian President in a negative light.
In the unedited version, Barbara Walters makes references to the "government crackdown" and President Assad explains that there's no official policy to "crackdown" on government protesters. He uses the analogy of the US which has official policy to torture its citizens (Guantanamo) and explains that in Syria this is illegal. This portion of the Assad interview has been edited out from ABC's manipulated version.
Further, President Assad's reference to the deaths of over 1000 pro government supporters by supposedly unarmed protesters is edited out and his description of the institutions and legal processes to investigate and find those guilty of violence against protesters has been edited out.
Here's the full interview if you have the time to watch it.
