Toronto - Award-winning media personality Regis Philbin made a visit to Toronto on Tuesday to promote his latest book "How I Got This Way." Before signing his book, members of the packed crowd yelled, "We love you, Regis!"
Digital Journal reported earlier this year that daytime television personality Regis Philbin would retire from television. Philbin, 80, is known for his hosting duties for “Live with Regis and Kelly,” “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” “Million Dollar Password” and “America’s Got Talent.”
The Emmy Award-winning entertainer has appeared in motion pictures, produced albums and authored several books. Philbin, who first started his career as a page at “The Tonight Show” during the 1950s, now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Philbin now shares his life with millions of his fans in his new book “How I Got This Way.” The talk show host made a trip to Toronto on Tuesday where he signed books, spoke about his visit to the city and took questions from the packed crowd.
As he made his entrance at the Manulife Centre Indigo book store, Philbin was greeted with a roaring applause, “woos,” whistles and “we love you, Regis!”
When he got to the airport, Philbin realized that he forgot his passport. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to sit. Eventually, a gentleman took Philbin to a hallway with seats facing each other. When he sat down for a little more than a minute, 35 Nova Scotia high school kids saw him and asked for photos, a seat and a touch.
Finally, the teacher spoke up and said that the students can stand together with Philbin and pose for a photograph. Later, when they sat down following the picture, the students were staring at Philbin for more than an hour. “It was great, it really was.”

“This book is about 30 people in my life that I have met who have helped me and inspired me and influenced me in some way and I am grateful I met them,” stated Philbin. “That’s what the book is about, the difference they’ve made in my life and little takeaways after each chapter saying what I learned in that particular chapter of my life.”
Prior to his book signing, he took questions from the audience.
Philbin was asked when his next show was coming out. “I don’t have one yet,” noted Philbin, “and if you hear of something let me know.”
One woman shouted: “I just want to thank you for making it okay to be 80.” Philbin responded in jest: “I want to thank you for mentioning my age.”
