Huddersfield - A Polish immigrant appeared in Leeds Crown Court on Monday, on a charge of attempted murder, after allegedly burying his bound girlfriend alive in a box in the woods.
A young Polish mother suffered a terrifying ordeal when her boyfriend decided on a novel way to dump her when he became bored, police say. Michelina Lewandowska, 27, was buried alive in a cardboard computer box in woods near Huddersfield, after allegedly being shot with a 300,000-volt Taser stun gun.
Marcin Kasprzak, 25, the father of Michelina's three-year-old son Jakub, travelled from Poland to the U.K. with his girlfriend six years ago. He stands accused of attempted murder after leaving Michelina bound and gagged in a shallow grave, from which she fortunately escaped. According to the Daily Mail, Kasprzak, together with 18-year-old Patryk Borys, shoveled soil on the box and covered it with a tree branch weighing six stone.
A jury at Leeds Crown Court heard on Monday how the frightened woman, bound with parcel tape, remained silent in the grave until she was sure Kasprzak had left, before extricating herself with difficulty and flagging down a motorist to take her to safety.
Prosecutor Jonathon Sharp told the jury "In a nutshell, this case is about a young man who got bored with his partner, the mother of his child, and he decided to get rid of her." (BBC). Kasprzak did not consider his girlfriend as attractive as other girls he saw at the gym, and wanted to get rid of her in order to be free to find a new girlfriend.
Kasprzak and Borys pleaded not guilty to attempted murder though admitted being involved. The prosecution maintains they intended Michelina to die from lack of oxygen.
