Silver Spring - Montgomery County Police have released a series of videos recorded at a Maryland 7-Eleven which show a group of more than 50 teens and young adults participating in a mass theft at the convenience store.
Silver Spring detectives are investigating the incident that occurred Saturday night at the 12257 Tech Road location, according to a media release posted on YouTube.
Store employees said the "flash mob" ransacked the store, taking whatever they could carry, and scattered quickly when they saw police vehicles responding to the theft in progress.
The MCPD said the "flash rob" included snacks and drinks. A group of teens was stopped by police near the scene and questioned by the officers. No arrests were made. They reportedly had products sold at the convenience store, but did not have receipts to prove they had purchased the items.
"The police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the individuals involved in the incident. The investigators are hoping that anyone who recognizes any of the people in the three videos will contact the 3rd District Investigative Section at 301-565-5835."
Callers with information on the the mass theft may remain anonymous, said the MCPD.
