Trenton - White supremacist couple Heath and Deborah Campbell, who acquired international notoriety for naming their son after the infamous Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, have lost custody of another baby within hours of its birth.
The couple became famous in December 2008, after a ShopRite grocery store refused a request to decorate their child's birthday cake with his name, Adolf Hitler Campbell.
UPI .com reports the American couple from New Jersey say after their newborn son Hons Campbell was delivered at Hunterdon Medical Center, the doctor in charge called the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family services. State child welfare officials came and took custody of the child at 6.50 p.m. on Thursday, about 17 hours after the baby was born.
The mother of the newborn child, Deborah Campbell, says guards stood at the door of her hospital room to prevent her from having any contact with her baby.
According to Ninemsn.com, officials gave the couple no explanation for removing the child. The couple say they are baffled at the behavior of the authorities. Heath Campbell, speaking to a reporter, said:
"There's no legal binding court order...It's basically kidnapping, but they use different terms."
The Campbells, before birth of baby Hons, had four children. Child welfare officials removed the children, all with Nazi-themed names, Adolf Hitler Campbell, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, and placed them in a foster home, in January 2009. The child welfare authorities said their action was based on evidence of past violence in the family.
MSNBC reports that Pasquale Gianneeta, attorney of the Campbell family, says a court hearing to determine the custody of the new baby will be held on Monday.
