Actor Brad Pitt has many Hollywood observers confused over his recent purchase of a 36 ton Soviet era tank for personal use.
Actor Brad Pitt has managed to leave fans and friends alike scratching their collective heads following his purchase of a Soviet era T-54 tank. The 36 ton tank was used as a prop on his most recent film project "World War Z" co-starring David Morse and Matthew Fox, set for release in December 2012.
Following the purchase Pitt had the tank shipped from location in Budapest, Hungary to his Hollywood home. The purchase price of the T-54 tank and the associated shipping costs were not disclosed, nor were Mr. Pitt's reasons for the purchase.
The T-54 tank is the most widely produced military tank in history, first made toward the end of World War ll and used in helping Russia win many battles on the western front. It is believed to be in part the inspiration for the American made Patton Tank.
