Parents are outraged at a Compton, CA elementary school for allegedly inviting former adult film star, Sasha Grey, to read to a group of 1st and 3rd grade students. The school has denied ever inviting her.
Photos taken by
TMZ show Grey reading to the children at the school, but the school is seemingly now trying to cover up the event by claiming she was never present, after parents expressed outrage.
The school claims that they do have celebrities who come in to read to students from time to time, but that Grey was not one of them.
According to the
Huffington Post, Grey was said to be invited to read to the children at Emerson Elementary School back on Nov. 2 as part of the Read Across America program.
She
tweeted of her experience:
"Spent the am with Read Across America Compton, reading to the sweetest 1st & 3rd grade students @ Emerson Elementary!"
Grey had previously worked as an adult film entertainer, but recently retired from the business. She has since acted in mainstream films and TV shows, such as "
Entourage", as well as authoring a
book featuring erotic photos and essays.
In reaction to the parents' outrage, Grey released a
statement saying:
"I committed to this program with the understanding that people would have their own opinions about what I have done, who I am and what I represent."
Grey says that she still plans on being a part of the program to help educate children, despite any negative response from others.
