Kiwi golden girl Bic Runga has a new album out November 14, and is also playing a couple of concert dates November 9 & 10, for those who can afford the plane fare. If you haven't heard her, you don't know what you've missed.
The middle of three musical sisters, Briolette Kah Bic Runga burst on the scene in 1997 with her self-produced seven times platinum Drive album, and although she has released a fair amount of material over the years, she has never sacrificed quality for quantity. Currently, the man from SongFacts has 18 of her compositions in his database.
The new album is called Belle, and can be previewed with three other tracks on iTunes: the new Hello Hello - an uptempo number, and three that will all be familiar to her fans: Drive, Something Good and Sway. To the seasoned ear of this Runga fan, the first two sound like new recordings. None of these are her best material; check out the poetic Gravity, the mystical Birds or the rock classic Sorry to experience her at her best.
