Texas Governor Rick Perry, played by SNL's Bill Hader, paid a visit to 'Weekend Update' to explain his recent strange behavior in New Hampshire that some have speculated was driven by drinking too much alcohol.
Republican presidential candidate Governor Rick Perry gave a remarkable speech in New Hampshire last week that set in motion broad speculation that Perry, who is losing badly in every nationally-recognized poll, was intoxicated. Perry contended the speech was more reflective of the fact that he "felt great" during it, according to the Washington Post, where full video of Perry's speech was included.
So, in an effort to clear his name, Governor Perry, played by SNL's Bill Hader, made an appearance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and explained to Seth Meyers on SNL's "Weekend Update" that he was simply given a suspect pizza pie that had been laced with Ambien pepperoni from fellow Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain.
"OK, right before the speech, Herman Cain shows up with a Godfather's Pizza, and he's like 'hey man, do you like pizza?'" Perry explained. "And you know me, Seth. I love pizza. And it wasn't until after I ate it that I realized the pepperonis were Ambiens and the tomato sauce was beer."
The Perry campaign is also accused by the Cain campaign of having leaked the sexual harassment complaints currently dogging Herman Cain, as the Los Angeles Times reported.
But Perry had more to share on Herman Cain.
"Right after Herman Cain gave me the pizza, he leaned in and he whispered 'I touched all those ladies' boobies, and I liked it,'" Perry said. "That's not a president. I'm a president."
Meyers then said that it looked like the governor was losing it, to which Perry acknowledged his dire position in the polls.
"I'm so bad at talking, Seth," Perry said. "I'd be such a good president if there wasn't talking involved."
