article imageActor Omar Sharif slaps woman on red carpet

In a shocking display of aggression, legendary actor Omar Sharif lashed out at a fan who was seeking a picture with the actor, and appeared to slap her in the face. Sharif told the woman to wait her turn for the photo.
TMZ obtained the video of the incident which took place on the red carpet of the Doha Tribeca Film Festival in Qatar earlier this morning.
The video shows the 79-year-old actor politely posing for photos when a fan approaches him and appears to ask in Arabic if she can have her picture taken with him.
Sharif seems flustered by her request and begins yelling at her. He then lashes out physically and appears to slap the woman in the face, although it is uncertain whether he actually made contact since her back was turned to the camera capturing the brawl.
The woman surprisingly smiled throughout the incident as if nothing had happened.
Moments later, Sharif agreed to pose for the photo with the fan, seeming quite calm after his outburst.
This is not the first time the famed actor has vented his aggressions.
New York Daily News reports that he attacked a police officer back in 2003 while inside a Paris casino, and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charges after assaulting a Beverly Hills parking attendant in 2007.
Sharif is originally from Alexandria, Egypt and has had roles in such films as "Dr. Zhivago" and "Funny Girl". He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1962 film "Lawrence of Arabia".
