A small black lab puppy estimated to be around 3 months old was spotted on top of a train as it traveled through Easley, S.C. It is a mystery as to how the dog ended up on top of the train.
Tina Parker was driving home with her family on Sunday night. While she was stopped at a railroad crossing, she noticed what at first appeared to be a bag of trash on top of a train, according to WYFF4. She then realized that it was a puppy when she saw movement and quickly called 911 as she followed the train into the city of Liberty.
The Associated Press reports that a team of four firefighters were called in to perform the rescue.
The train was stopped in Liberty, and it was traveling at a speed of around 50 mph. The train was en route from Pennsylvania to Atlanta.
Nobody is certain how long the puppy had been on top of the train, but it is suspected that someone may have placed her up there intentionally.
In a happy turn of events, Parker has chosen to adopt the puppy. She has appropriately decided to name the puppy "Boxcar Hunter", or "Boxy" for short.
