article imageAshton Kutcher seeks honesty in media: 'We are our own editors'

By Michael Krebs     Oct 21, 2011 in Entertainment
As the Hollywood gossip on whether or not Ashton Kutcher cheated on Demi Moore continued to circulate, Kutcher took to the internet with a video monologue that attacks the media and asks to define the nature of 'truth.'
In the high-speed broadband digital age, Hollywood's celebrities have another channel to distribute their promotions and their perspectives to their audiences and detractors alike. And when the gossip voices become too loud or the media coverage may not play out in a favorable light, this alternative channel may serve as a public relations outlet.
Ashton Kutcher, replacement star on the hit series "Two and a Half Men," has been facing a relentless media frenzy over allegations that he had cheated on his wife, Demi Moore, and that the high-profile couple were no longer together.
While Demi Moore was seen in public wearing a wedding ring since rumors of the scandal hit the press, she did appear to wear an icy smile, according to Us Magazine.
"Everyone was remarking how thin Demi was, more so than usual," an observer told Us. "She seemed in a decent mood though, even a little happy to be there."
Kutcher is rumored to have had a one-night affair with 22-year old Sara Leal, an experience that was documented in a feature story last week in Us Magazine. The scandal is thought to have happened on the sixth wedding anniversary of Kutcher and Moore.
But Kutcher did not appear to be taking the matter well, using the Internet to sound out his criticism of the media coverage he has received.
"I just want to open up a little dialogue on the state of honesty, the state of truth," Kutcher began in a video post distributed across the Internet.
"There is no gatekeeper of the truth," Kutcher explained. "We are our own editors. We are our own publishers, and we are our own printers. And thereby people can bastardize the truth in any way, shape or form that they want."
