Denver - Man's best friend has proven to be best friend indeed when his barking awoke the family of four saving them from a house fire.
According to KWGN,KDVR and TVDeck Littleton firefighters said the family dog ​​may have saved their lives from the fire which began around 5:30 am Saturday morning.
Firefighters at the scene say a dog's barking woke the family in time to evacuate safely during the early stages of the fire.
The Littleton Fire Department and South Metro firefighters arrived at the house on the block 10200 of Knoll Court.
A spokesman for the Littleton Fire Department says "the fire spread rapidly, leaving extensive damage to the family's home."
No injuries were reported.
