Who says life stops after 50? These seniors are dancing their way to good health with a customized version of hip hop movement.
According to videos posted on WPTZ, TVDeck and WAPT, these seniors are keeping fit by keeping up with the times and getting 'jiggy' with hip hop music. It's called hip-hop-pop.
Dancing to hip hop in their 80's, the members of the dance group have traded in waltzing for the new moves of hip hop. Coaching Choreographer Leslie Allison says the seniors master the complex steps as well as people half their age, but it just takes a little bit longer and she watches to make sure the moves are done safely. Some are new to dancing and some others are experienced and they practice 2 to 3 times per week. They are getting good exercise and some have even lost weight.
