Three children are dead as a result of a vehicle crash due to a tire blowout. The vehicle was driven by Eliazar Garcia, and none of the victims wore seat-belts.
Reports by The Mississippi Link says three young kids were killed when the vehicle they were riding in had a blow out. The accident happened about 2:33 a.m. on Saturday on Interstate 10 near mile marker 32.
WMCTV reports the three children ranging in age from 5 to 7 years old, were killed during the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia was transported to Garden Park Hospital for treatment of injuries. He was later airlifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile, AL.
Fox 8 Live reports that a 1999 Ford Econoline Van driven by Garcia, of Greer, SC was westbound in the left lane. While driving, the driver's side rear tire blew out causing him to lose control of the vehicle. It then spun around and overturned northwest where it came to rest in the grass.
It was reported that the passengers were members of three families traveling from South Carolina to Mexico. Eight of Garcia's passengers were transported to Garden Park Hospital and Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. None of the victims wore a seat-belt and the van was designed primarily for cargo and had no passenger seats in the back.
