Pearl Rose Gavaghan da Massa, 7, has been found in Montreal. She is now with her father in the United Kingdom after a parental abduction in 2009.
Pearl's father had been searching for her since she left the UK in 2009 while on an unapproved holiday with her mother. Her mother, Helen Gavaghan, had taken the child to Mexico and then to Toronto.
Henry da Massa relocated to Toronto in the search for his daughter after a sighting in the Parkdale area in 2010.
In April, the TPS Fugitive Squad announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Pearl.
On September 16, 2011 the Montreal Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call concerning a woman and child on Ogilvy Avenue. At the scene it is alleged that the woman and child were unable to verify their identity. Under further investigation it was discovered that the woman was Helen Gavaghan and the girl was Pearl Rose Gavaghan da Massa.
Helen Gavaghan was arrested and turned over to the Canadian Border Services Agency.
Pearl was turned over to her father's care after examination of his legal documents that showed that he had full custody.
Inspector Randy Smith, TPS Fugitive Squad, said in a press release, "Finding a child is one of the greatest rewards in policing. The desire and determination of all the agencies involved made this reunion possible."
