Crocodile caught in southern Philippines, to star in eco park

Bunawan - After a three-week hunt, the local government of Bunawan together with expert crocodile hunters finally caught the feared 21-foot crocodile, suspected of attacking and killing a villager, who went missing last July.

Luciano Auxtero believes that the crocodile, which weighs about 2,370 pounds (1,075 kilograms,) ate his sister. “I strongly believe that the crocodile ate my lost sister," said Auxtero in Filipino. Mayor Edwin Cox Elorde of Bunawan, Agusan del Sur province said that the crocodile might just be the largest crocodile to be captured alive. Elorde adds that the crocodile will be the main attraction of a planned ecotourism park in the impoverished town, about 500 miles from the country's capital. "It will be the biggest star of the park," Elorde told the Associated Press. Agusan's giant crocodile is the second giant reptile that has been captured in the country during the last three months. Just last July, a 13-foot crocodile was captured in Rio Tuba in Palawan.
